ZHAO Yun-huo 趙雲壑

ZHAO Yun-huo was a modern painter from Suzhou. Skilled in painting flowers and landscapes, he was also accomplished in seal carving and calligraphy. He was a direct student of Wu Changshuo and inherited his teacher’s spirit and style while also drawing from classical masters such as Xu Wei and Shi Tao. In 1920, his works were published jointly with those of Wu Changshuo. In regular script he followed Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan; in clerical script he modeled after the Stele of Zhang Qian; and in seal script he specialized in the Stone Drum Inscriptions.
