WENG Fang-gang, courtesy name Zhongxu, style name Zhengsan, studio name Tanxi, later known as Suzhai, was a native of Daxing County, Shuntian Prefecture (present-day Beijing). He obtained the jinshi degree in the 17th year of the Qianlong reign and served as an official during both the Qianlong and Jiaqing periods. Weng was also a distinguished calligrapher, writer, and epigrapher.
